I wouldn't arm all the Jezaichis with 500m+ range rifles, but I would make Designated Marksmen key personnel in Village Defense. Of course, properly trained and armed Jezailchis could create Freedom Zones that might impede the collection of "taxes"/tribute/protection money by both the Taliban and representatives of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

How we do we persuade a National Army and National Police full of petty Gesslers that more William Tells are a good idea?

Yeah, the 6.8 is a good deal and developed specifically for combat. I tend to lean towards the 6.5 Grendel, even though it was more of a competition built round, but both are a far better cartridge for what we are doing in places like Afghanistan.

The most simple way to do this, is probably just bring in the AR 10 chambered in NATO 7.62, and use the upgraded M-14 magazines. The ergonomics are just like the M-4, and we have all of these components in the market right now to upgrade it. All the optics and stuff would easily just transfer over to this larger AR platform. An AR 10 with a piston kit would be really cool. Hell, just go with the HK 417, but those things are pretty pricey.

Another idea is to just go with older battle rifles chambered in 7.62. The FN FAL (the modern versions) are good. The G 3 works, with a little modification. It must be fitted with a rail system, so all the goodies in the system can be placed on it.

We are currently using the M-14's to the max. I just like using one caliber, that works in multiple weapon systems within the squad or platoon. I also like big rounds, that put big holes in people, and knocks them down when you shoot them.

To go really cheap, we could just get AK's. Or we just make sure that if guys are going to be in COP's out in the middle of nowhere, then let them have a few AK's to back up their current weapon. If there is a mass attack, there will be enemy KIA to take ammo from.

For the Jezailchis Scouts, I like it. Just as long as they are able to get ammo for the things, and for those rifles, they could capture PKM ammo and just strip a belt.
Or we implement a program where we provide quality ammo and barrels for those sniper rifles. The Jezailchis Scouts will develop their own armoring methods to tweak out their rifles to make them accurate.
The other thing I like about the JS is that they could also hunt game for the tribe or militia formed to protect the tribe. I am sure there are already hunters that go out and do this, but the JS should be seeking these guys out, and bring them in for the unit.
I could also see putting on competitions that test the skills of the various folks in the tribal regions. Something to awaken Jezailchis history within the people, and promote the skills of these guys.
