Now this looks interesting. This is the film adaptation of Shakespeare’s play called Coriolanus, which was based on the Roman general Gaius Marcius Coriolanus. Beethoven even wrote a piece called the Coriolan Overture. Although with this film, the setting is in modern times. (they also filmed it in Serbia, and used Serbian soldiers as extras)
Now the key here is can a modern film version of this play, resonate with today’s audience? Who knows, but it will be interesting to check out. –Matt
I think it will resonate. Have you heard of Theater of War? It's reaching very large audiences throughout the nation, and addresses war through the readings of Sophocles. So, Shakespeare, Sophocles, or even using the Odyssey, sometime literature has a palpable meaning to get to the depths of what war means to the human psyche than anything else.
This film opens Dec. 2 to wide release. Yay!

This looks fantastic, and I didn't know they filmed in Serbia and used soldiers as extras–thanks for sharing that. I think this Bill Shakespeare guy has a bright future.
