Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania is currently searching for an experienced SECURITY Manager.  The position reports to the General Manager, working on a 9/4 weeks roster.

 KEY RESULT AREAS:

Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.

·         Collaborate with each of the Departments, to ensure sustained development of a Safe, Healthy & Secure Work Environment on the Mine Site and within the Communities of contact.

·         Direct the activities of the SECURITY Department, to assure cost effective and high quality initiatives are taken.  Achievement of Zero Property Loss Incidents is considered as a Key Performance Indicator.

·         Implement a SECURITY Management capability that will ensure protection of people and prevention of asset & material loss.

·         Ensure that any loss is investigated in a proactive manner, to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.

·         Ensure that all SECURITY personnel are equipped, trained and qualified to respond to potential “breach of SECURITY” incidents in an appropriate manner.

·         Implement the necessary programs and reporting functions that will facilitate timely reporting of incidents, costs, training schedules and commitment forecasts.

·         Ensure all SECURITY personnel are trained in the application of Voluntary Principles (VPs) on Human Rights and the Use of Force.

·         Develop and promote a Succession Plan that will define appropriate localization initiatives and ensure these commitments are met.

·         Promote and implement the appropriate Policies and Procedures that are based on the submissions and commitments to the Tanzanian governing agencies and the best management practices that are part of our Barrick Operating System and corporate philosophy.

·         Facilitate creation of a workplace climate that ensures minimum disruption to work due to industrial relations issues.

·         Actively participate in appropriate industry committees, government working parties and community groups to ensure that Buzwagi interests are represented and protected.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS

Qualifications & Experience:

·         Post secondary education diploma or degree.

·         Minimum 10 – 15 years experience in the Military, Police, or as a Senior SECURITY Professional working in mining and gold processing.

·         Experience with SECURITY operations, community relations and project development in developing countries.

·         Minimum one year experience working in Tanzania or African countries.

·         Knowledge of Tanzanian customs and legal process.

·         High level of interpersonal and negotiating skills

·         Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in the English language.

Advanced skills in SECURITY Operations, including:

o        Field surveillance, deployment & intervention,

o        Communications,

o        Canine force activities,

o        CID,

o        Electronic control systems.

o        Strong communication skills.

Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania is currently searching for an experienced Investigations Specialist.  The position reports to the Regional Investigations Manager, working on a 9/4 weeks roster.

As a qualified security professional, the Investigations Specialist will be responsible for the conduct of assigned security investigations at mine sites within Tanzania, under the direction of the Regional Investigations Manager, Africa Business Unit.

The position will include a requirement to work closely with other functional areas such as the Site and Regional Security Managers, Global Internal Audit and external investigators as may be appointed from time to time by the Office of General Counsel, Barrick Gold Corporation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

o        Conduct of criminal and other security investigations.

o        Conduct other investigations as directed by the Regional Investigations Manager.

o        Provide high quality written assessments and reports.

o        Contributes to site and regional training and mentoring of subordinate investigators.

Qualification:

 o        Undergraduate degree in a security related field and a minimum of 5 years practical experience in security investigations or law enforcement investigations, or;

o        A tertiary diploma in a security or investigations related field and a minimum of 10 years practical experience in security investigations or law enforcement investigations.

 Experience:

o        Formal training and experience in criminal investigation case management.

o        Extensive experience and demonstrated understanding of forensic science and it’s application in criminal investigations.

o        Demonstrated experience in managing large scale serious criminal investigations

o        Understanding and/or experience in gold mining or extractive mining processes.

o        Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in the English language.
