  4. Thanks Cleo and I wish you luck in your endeavor. My advice is never quit and persistence is power. And once you get the job, save your pennies and be the guy that does things right when no one is looking. Be a leader, and apply continuous improvement to all aspects of your security contracting career. Pure jundism….

  9. I like your story on this, it should be make aware of by the puplic but it's not. We are getting killed and injuried just by doing our jobs. I am just one of many injured contractors workers. Oct 6 2006 was the date of my injuires. IED got me, let me with 3rd degre burns on 30% on my body and lost of some nerves in both hands. T Christian Miller I think will remember me, he did the story on me and anther injured worker.

  17. Matt,

Thank you for listing the Black Ice yahoo group on your blog, but I think most of your readers would be interested in the Tier II group postings, not the local DC/NOVA guard scene. Point them to this page instead so they can choose the best group.

  19. Hello Matt, I was referred to you and your site from a former contractor.

I am looking at a gig in Nigeria and am to assemble a team prior to deployment. I am looking for information regarding Nigeria from a “contractor’s” stand point and wanted to know if you had such info.
    Regards

  20. @SFox
Hello and welcome to the blog. My advice is to contact any security folks that have worked for Shell or ExxonMobile. Both of these oil companies have security folks working in Nigeria, and they could give you some good info. If you go on Linkedin and do a couple of searches, you should be able to find a few guys that have worked for these companies there. You could also try the forums and get a few hits for info as well. On the blog, just click on the category ‘Nigeria’ for all of the stuff I have.  You can also read Steve Coll’s book on ExxonMobile’s experience in Nigeria to get an idea of what is going on there.
