Dave was my second cousin. I knew him from childhood, and although we were never in close touch since then I always considered him a family hero. He will be sorely missed. Thank so much to whoever posted this tribute…we truly appreciate that you chose to honor Dave in this way.

Our BUD/S "IBL" boat crew has lost a friend and teammate. I am glad we were classmates. The World is a better place because of you.

Dan and company, sorry for your loss and Dave sounded like a good man. For the record, I do not know who compiled the youtube memorial video, but I did think it was very cool and I wanted to promote it here on FJ. Bravo to the producer of the youtube video, and thanks to Steve Collins at Blackice for distributing it. Rest in peace. -Matt

headjundi: Barry Ezell, a close friend of both me and Dave, put the video together. We all lived in a very military area, Barry is a retired LTC in the Army, and I am currently serving in the Army, partly due to Dave. I talked to him a lot about my decision to join, and he was killed within 2wks of me starting basic training. I found out when I was home at xmas after a long conversation with his son, who had just started high school. His death has had a profound effect on us all, but not nearly as great an effect as his life. He had such a heart, and was a warm, caring person, under that tough military shell. Its hard to believe its been a year since we lost him.
