Al Qaeda: Top AQ Leader Blames Blackwater for Peshawar Blasts

This is interesting.  I have always thought that AQ and the Taliban were behind the new media assault against PMC’s and PSC’s in Pakistan, and this is just more indication of such.  If you ever follow the Pakistani blogosphere, in regards to companies like BW or DynCorp, you would think those companies were Satan Inc.

I think AQ and company should have more to worry about, than a couple of PMC’s.  But hey, if it pisses off the bad guys, then I love it. –Matt

Top al Qaeda leader blames Blackwater for Peshawar blasts

Said muslims not behind the attacks because they are fighting to protect the honor and lives of other Muslims

Critics of Blackwater cite the company’s actions in Iraq as evidence of its malevolent intents

Iraq refused to renew the license of the company after its guards killed 17 civilians two years ago

(CNN) — A senior al Qaeda leader in Afghanistan has blamed the U.S. security firm formerly known as Blackwater as being behind the recent spate of deadly attacks in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

An audio message said to be from Mustafa Abu Yazid, released Thursday, said Muslims could not have been behind the attacks, because they are fighting to protect the honor and lives of other Muslims.

The mujahadeen, as Yazid called the militants, target only security forces who are far from civilian gathering places, he said.

“Today, everyone knows what Blackwater and the criminal security contractors are doing after they came to Pakistan with the support of the criminal, corrupt government and its intelligence and security apparatus,” Yazid said.

“They are the ones who commit these heinous acts, then accuse the mujahadeen of their crimes.”

Yazid is al Qaeda’s commander of operations in Afghanistan and its No. 3 man.

The tape was posted on several Islamist Web sites, known to carry statements from the radical Islamic group.

CNN could not immediately determine the authenticity of the tape.

Mexico: Amid Rising Violence, Mexicans Fight Back

“Even acting outside the limits of my role as mayor, I will end the kidnappings, extortions and drug trafficking. We are going to do this by whatever means, fair or foul.”

Asked if his new squad would operate outside the law, Mr. Fernández said: “In some ways, that’s right. What the criminals want is that they can break every law, but that we have to respect every law. Well, I don’t get that.”

Los Pepes eat your heart out! lol  Now if Mexico would use the Letter of Marque, we could have a full court press on these fools.  I salute men like Mr. Fernandez and I truly hope he can get a handle on things in his town. –Matt

Government Efforts to Control Drug Turf Wars Aren’t Enough, Some Say; Mayor Promises to ‘Clean Up’ Organized Crime

By DAVID LUHNOW and JOSé DE CóRDOBA

MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s war on drugs took a grim twist this week, as a prominent mayor said he had created an undercover group of operatives to “clean up” criminal elements — even if it had to act outside the law. Underscoring why the mayor may have felt compelled to take such steps, the new police chief in a neighboring town, a retired brigadier general, was shot and killed Wednesday, four days after taking up his post.

The events shed light on the state of Mexico’s battle to try to control powerful drug cartels and stop the turf wars between rival gangs that have killed an estimated 14,000 people since President Felipe Calderón took office in December 2006. Frustrated with the government’s approach, Mexicans are searching for other solutions.

Mayors and state governors across the country say they feel powerless to control the traffickers, who have corrupted local and state police to such a degree that they are considered part of the problem, rather than part of the solution. Mr. Calderón has sent 45,000 army troops to various Mexican states to try to stem the violence, but the killings have continued, with more than 6,300 people dead in drug-related violence so far this year, according to Mexican newspaper estimates.

Thatcher’s son may face court over coup

PAOLA TOTARO HERALD CORRESPONDENT

November 9, 2009

LONDON: Sir Mark Thatcher, son of the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, has revealed he became an informer for the South African Secret Service in a desperate bid to avoid being prosecuted for his role in a bungled coup in Equatorial Guinea.

In an interview granted for a book on the ”Wonga coup”, Sir Mark said he met an intelligence official from the SASS while he was under investigation by police for providing finance for the 2004 plot. He also said he had been accepted as a source for intelligence. He was arrested four days later by the Scorpions, a South African anti-corruption unit and charged under anti-mercenary laws.

The revelations, published in The Times, quote Adam Robert, an Economist journalist and author of the book.

The former SAS officer Simon Mann, who was pardoned and released from jail in Equatorial Guinea last week after being convicted of involvement in the coup plot, originally claimed that Sir Mark played a central role in the events and wants him to face justice.

Al Qaeda: New Jihad Code Threatens Al Qaeda

“Jihad has ethics and morals because it is for God. That means it is forbidden to kill women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like. Betrayal is prohibited and it is vital to keep promises and treat prisoners of war in a good way. Standing by those ethics is what distinguishes Muslims’ jihad from the wars of other nations.”

Doug sent me this one the other day and I thought it was pretty cool.  Anything that divides these idiots is alright in my book.  Although I highly doubt that AQ or any of the other booger eaters that claim an association will really give a crap.  ‘Killing women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like’ is what they like doing, and I really don’t see them changing their ways anytime soon. Pffft. –Matt

New jihad code threatens al Qaeda

By Nic Robertson and Paul Cruickshank, CNN

November 10, 2009

Editors Note: This story is the result of a two-year CNN investigative report into peace talks held between the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and the Libyan Government which recently culminated in the LIFG, a militant jihadist group once close to Osama bin Laden, repudiating al Qaeda. “The Jihadi Code,” a documentary on the breakthrough against al Qaeda in Libya, airs on November 15 at 1200 GMT.

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) — From within Libya’s most secure jail a new challenge to al Qaeda is emerging.

Leaders of one of the world’s most effective jihadist organizations, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), have written a new “code” for jihad. The LIFG says it now views the armed struggle it waged against Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s regime for two decades as illegal under Islamic law.
