Podcasts: COR Interviews Bill Roggio, Editor of The Long War Journal
COR Interviews Bill Roggio, Editor of The Long War Journal.
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview, and Bill is just a wealth of information when it comes to this war. The Long War Journal is a highly effective ‘new media’ tool in getting the word out about this war and what we are doing right or wrong, and it was a pleasure to hear what Bill had to say. I hope Bill comes back again.
Some of the highlights for this show, was a quick down and dirty discussion about what is going on in Pakistan, and how important that conflict is to the rest of the war. Jake and Bill also discussed this latest attack on the Sri Lanken Cricket Team in Pakistan. They also discussed the latest appeasement actions of the Pakistani government in the Swat region, and how idiotic that is.

Podcasts: COR Interviews William Beaver of DangerZoneJobs.com
This show should be required listening for all of those readers out there that are trying to break into overseas contracting. Bill is an expert in this field, and I highly recommend his Danger Zone Jobs service. There is a lot of information on that site, and it is one stop shopping for those who want to keep up with the latest news on the industry. Bill also offers a free PDF on his site, that is a survey of contractors and how they found a job in the contracting field. It is a wealth of information, and you can find it at www.dangerzonejobs.com . –Matt

Podcasts: Jake From COR Speaks with Andy Bearpark, Director of BAPSC
Jake speaks with Andy Bearpark, Director General of the British Association of Private Security Companieson Combat Operator Radio. This was an excellent show. Andy was a wealth of information, and that was cool to hear some of the inside scoop on the Montreux Document. That would have been a fun think tank to be a part of, and I am sure the discussions were very interesting. Here is a link for the document, so readers can check it out.
I was also curious what Andy thought about the New America Foundation’s paper called Changing the Culture of Government Contracting. They referenced the Montreux Document in the paper, and I was wondering if there was any collaboration? It certainly influenced the paper, and that is cool. And to further expand on this excellent document, does Andy expect to see something of an index to pop up that actually rates companies on their performance or adherence to the industry best practices laid down by the Montreux Document? The reason I ask, is that I think it would be healthy for the industry to point out those companies that are doing well, and those that are lacking.
As for a model for such a thing, I point to the Mo Ibrahim Foundation index on African Governance. Check it out, and I think something like this would be quite useful for this industry. –Matt
