Haiti: Warlord ‘Blade’ Broke Out Of Prison With 3000 During Quake

Boy, if there was any a reason to call up some serious bounty hunter types to find this guy, now would be it.  All of these criminals will only add to the chaos and heartache of the city. Especially guys like Blade, because you know that jackass is going to take advantage of this disaster.

In this case, you could set up a bounty hunting program, and put a price on each criminal’s head for capture.  I think this would be pretty effective once everyone is getting fed and has water, and are looking for ways to fix their city and establish order. Of course a prison needs to be set up as well.  I would classify this as a priority during the recovery phase of this operation.

On that note, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has the idea I am thinking of for these guys.  Set up a tent city for these prisoners, and use the prisoners to clean up the city or unbury the bodies for future identification.  Because putting bodies in pits now is an expedient, but eventually those bodies will have to be accounted for. The clean up is going to require everyone.

The other one that bothers me, are the mentally unsound criminals who abused, murdered or raped innocents to earn their incarceration. Undoubtedly, these types will thrive in an environment like this, and they must be hunted down and stopped. Pffft. –Matt

Warlord Blade broke out of prison with 3000 during quake

January 18, 2010

The thousands of gang members who escaped from Haiti’s main prison when the earthquake struck have added to the security difficulties in the country.

More than 3000 inmates broke free on Tuesday, including gangsters who once ruled the country’s largest slum with violence and intimidation.

They stole guns from prison guards at the National Penitentiary and went straight to the collapsed justice ministry to set it on fire and destroy any records of their incarceration or criminal history.

Bounties: Pakistan Offers $5 Million For Information on Taliban Leaders

Thanks to Doug for sending me this one.  Although I am pretty sure the Pakistanis are only seeking to offer this deal to their own people.  Although you never know.  Bill Roggio of the Long War Journal might actually get a tip from a reader, that Bill could use to inform the Pakistanis with.  I would hope that the Pakistanis would definitely honor the bounty, if in fact they got tips from outside of their country.  We will see, and happy hunting out there. –Matt

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan government Monday offered a reward of $5 million for information on the country’s Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud and 18 of his associates.

The reward is for information on Tehreek-e-Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud and his associates who have vowed deadly attacks across the country in retaliation over US drone strikes.

The rewards were offered in a government advertisement on the front page of The News daily and flashed on Pakistani television channels overnight.

“Anyone who captures these people dead or alive or provides concrete information, the government will award them a cash reward,” The Nation quoted the advertisement as saying.

“The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) terrorists are daily involved in deadly activities and because of their activities innocent Muslims are going to the valley of death,” it added.

The largest rewards of 50 million Pakistan rupees each were offered for Mehsud, senior leader Wali ur-Rehman Mehsud and Qari Hussain Mehsud, also described as a master trainer of suicide bombers.

Eleven commanders had rewards of 20 million rupees each and rewards of 10 million rupees each were on offer for five others.

Pakistan has been hit by a string of terror strikes since Oct 5 that has left over 200 people dead. The worst terror attack took place in Peshawar Oct 28 when over 105 people were killed in a massive bombing in a crowded market.

The army has stepped up its offensive against the Taliban in South Waziristan and has been able to wrest control over some of the areas.

Canada police renew warnings of pipeline bombings

Wed Oct 7, 2009

By Allan Dowd

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) – Police on Wednesday urged residents near the site of several western Canadian pipeline bombings to be vigilant for more attacks as the bomber’s self-declared “summer vacation” draws to a close.

Investigators have no information that another bombing was planned soon, but noted it was also nearing the anniversary of the first attack near the communities of Dawson Creek and Tomslake, British Columbia, police said.

There have been six attacks on EnCana Corp natural gas pipelines and related infrastructure since October 2008 by a saboteur who has warned the explosions will continue until the energy industry pulls out of that area of northeastern British Columbia.

The “individual responsible for the six attacks has shown that they are willing to commit criminal acts to get their point across,” the Royal Canadian Mounted police said in a statement urging residents to be on alert.

The bomber sent a letter to the media and EnCana in July saying there would be a three-month “summer vacation,” but it also threatened the attacks would become more serious if the demands were not met.

“We hope that the bomber has had time to reconsider his actions,” police said.

Investigators have long speculated the bomber is a local resident with a grudge against EnCana. There are other energy companies working in the region, but EnCana is the only one to have been attacked.
