Funny Stuff: Steven Seagal’s ‘Lawman’ Series Is Going Global!

This is a weird show.  There is very real crime and law enforcement going on, but then you add this weird Hollywood Steven Seagal celebrity stuff, and you just kind of shake your head. But I guess it is a big enough hit to where they want this show overseas.  Now imagine if Chuck Norris did a ride along, or Steven either shot someone or got shot in a scene? I wonder if Steven will do those stunts and if real blood will be involved. Reality TV?…….yikes.

The other funny deal with this, is the guy is from Michigan, and yet he turns on this cajun/Louisiana accent in prime Hollywood fashion, at just the right moments. Or when he is trying to get all Zen-like with everyone, I imagine the guys he is with are just rolling their eyes. lol –Matt

Steven Seagal and ‘Lawman’ are good for Jefferson Parish, Sheriff Newell Normand says

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has gone global thanks to the recent international roll-out of “Steven Seagal Lawman.”

courtesy of A&EThe star of the A&E reality show “Steven Seagal: Lawman,” in a scene for the series’ first episode.

Now airing in the UK, Israel, France, Turkey, Australia, Southeast Asia, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Slovenia and soon to launch in Latin America, the series, which places action-adventure film star Steven Seagal and the A&E network’s reality-TV cameras on patrol with the JPSO, has resulted in “hundreds upon hundreds” of comments to Sheriff Newell Normand.

Coming from “law enforcement, county officials as well as individual citizens,” most are “overwhelmingly positive,” Normand said last week.

So signing on for another batch of episodes — the first season of which concluded Feb. 3 in the U.S. — was an easy call.

The A&E cable network, in conjunction with the production entities ITV Studios and Steamroller Prods., announced last week that shooting has begun for at least 16 more episodes, airdates undecided.

Film: The Video Game ‘Army of Two’ to be Made Into a Movie

“The ambiguity of these private military corporations lends weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what’s going on in the world right now. You have contractors with their own agendas, and two guys whose friendship supersedes all the politics.”

Wow, so the guy who wrote the Bourne Ultimatum, Scott Burns, is writing the script for Army of Two?  And he wants to give it a serious treatment?  Wow, and I applaud that. So will this film be like Tango and Cash, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, Starsky and Hutch, (fill in favorite action buddy film)? lol

Although I am highly skeptical of what the end product will really be.  Unfortunately, hollywood is on the kick of defining PMC’s and PSC’s as evil.  Would they and could they actually give the subject fair treatment?  I wonder what the investors have to say about what the ‘correct’ money making view on PMC’s and PSC’s should be?

Film: The Expendables

Ok, this would just be a fun flick to watch.  How could it not?  It seems to be collecting every 80’s action hero out there as well.  If you want to track the making of it, here is a blogger that is on set and connected.  –Matt

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li in town for ‘The Expendables’

May 12, 2009

Sylvester Stallone takes aim in a production still from the Brazil set of ‘The Expendables,’ which this week started shooting in New Orleans.

The collective muscle mass of the New Orleans area was pumped up considerably this week with the arrival of the brawny, alpha-dog cast of the big-budget action flick “The Expendables,” which started shooting Monday morning, headed by writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone.

Film: Hollywood Attacks the PMC Industry–War Inc., 24 and the Movie State of Play

Disappointing news about ’24’, and I am sure the fans are crushed. Please write in and voice your displeasure with this crap.  And adding Janeane Garofalo to the cast?  What in god’s name were you guys thinking?  I guess they really wanted to kill the show, because that is a great way to do it.

As for the movie State of Play, who knows how that will turn out.  But obviously Hollywood is in bash PMC’s mode, and to me, that is an extremely tired and way overplayed theme in today’s cookie cutter film industry.

How’s this for a unique idea… make a cutting edge movie that actually supports the concept of PMC’s and shows them saving the day for once? Now that would be some interesting film making, because it would actually take some courage to make.  Or you guys could continue to be cowards and take the easy way out with these poorly made and poorly received, PMC bashing flicks. Pffft.

And what really kills me, is where is the profit motive for making these types of flicks?  I have yet to hear of a ‘PMC bashing flick’ that has been successful.  For example, here is the Wikipedia on War Inc., an absolutely terrible film that did not do well at all. –Mudeer
