Job Tips: Finding Maritime Security Jobs by Reading News Stories

   This is pretty cool, because this journalist just found three maritime companies that are providing armed security services in the Gulf of Aden. I also thought it would be cool to attach the career sections of those companies below this story.

    I have no clue if these companies are currently hiring, but by referencing this article, you can deduct that they would probably be interested in guys with strong maritime security backgrounds.  Or you just might get lucky and catch them when they need bodies. By the way, please do not send me a resume, because I am not recruiting for these folks or acting as a POC.  I am just finding and sharing the information out there. –Matt

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — There’s not a warship for miles, a small pirate skiff is speeding toward you and there’s no way the creaking tub you’re on can outrun the bandits. How long do you wait before you shoot?

It’s just one of many possible dilemmas facing an increasing number of private security companies who offer armed escorts — known in the industry as “shipriders” — from Somali pirates.

Security Guard Force -Site Manager

Job Description 

·Reports to the In-Country Program Manager

·Manage a large Third Country National (TCN) guard force

·Establishes transition plan

·Responsible for overall task order performance

·Makes and carries out management decisions, with regards to in-scope task order performance requirements

·Ensures guard force are familiar with and understand directives from the US Military, Rules of Force and Rules of Engagement

·Complies with MNF-I FRAGO 09-109:

·Understand and comply with all policies and laws pertaining to Private Security Companies

·Understand and effectively communicate Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) and Rules for the Use of Force (RUF)

·Maintain individual training/personnel records

·Track and manage data using Microsoft Office programs

·Responsible for guards comporting in a courteous, professional and respectful manner

·Performs shift management

Conduct training, qualifications and certifications for guard force personnel

·OCONUS Hazardous Location

Job Requirements:

·Must be a US Citizen

·Possess an active Secret Clearance

·8-10 yrs military experience in combat arms MOS

·Minimum 25 yrs of age

·Force Protection experience

·Must qualify on 9mm pistol and M4

·No felony or domestic violence convictions

·Demonstrated management success

·Excellent problem solving skills

·Excellent communications skills

·Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing

·Excellent computer skills with the Microsoft suite of programs-Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. 

·Must have experience supervising a Guard Force.

·Must be very process oriented.

·Must be able to create and maintain detailed post instructions.

·Must be able to create and run reports.

·Must be experienced in running investigations.

·Must be able to hire and train security officers/personnel to a high standard.

·Must be Flexible and able to support a worldwide organization 24/7
