Legal News: Marine’s Father Will Not Pay Court-Ordered Funeral Protester’s Fees!!!

This is disgusting.  These pathetic losers from the Westboro Baptist Church are a stain on society and the US.  Any court should recognize that maybe common sense and human decency should for once dictate in ruling like this?  Because if they don’t, then I could see this protest method gaining traction, and we will see even more disgusting examples of freedom of speech gone horribly wrong.

Now if they say that the ruling should stand, and this father should pay, then that’s that.  If I was that father, I would do the time in prison or whatever for not paying and be highly vocal once in the joint.  He would become a martyr, and it will surely make a mockery of the justice system–every day he serves. It is as ridiculous as holding a court martial for the Navy SEALs who punched the terrorist in the stomach, after the animal was responsible for killing, mutilating and hanging from a bridge, the Blackwater contractors in Fallujah. What the hell is going on? –Matt

Marine’s dad ordered to pay protesters’ court fees

March 30, 2010

BALTIMORE — The father of a Marine killed in Iraq and whose funeral was picketed by anti-gay protesters was ordered to pay the protesters’ appeal costs, his lawyers said Monday.

On Friday, Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ordered Snyder to pay $16,510 to Fred Phelps. Phelps is the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church, which conducted protests at Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder’s funeral in 2006.

The two-page decision supplied by attorneys for Albert Snyder of York, Pa., offered no details on how the court came to its decision.

Attorneys also said Snyder is struggling to come up with fees associated with filing a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court.

The decision adds “insult to injury,” said Sean Summers, one of Snyder’s lawyers.

The high court agreed to consider whether the protesters’ message is protected by the First Amendment or limited by the competing privacy and religious rights of the mourners.

Call To Action: Navy SEAL Rally In Scottsdale AZ, March 27 2010

This is great, and I hope there is a big turn out.  If you live in the Scottsdale area, show your support for these guys. –Matt

News Release: Navy SEAL Rally in Scottsdale AZ

Support the Seals

March 24, 2010

Alexandria, VA

Rally: Saturday March 27, 2010, Scottsdale Arizona

In early September 2009, U.S. Navy SEALs secretly captured one of the mostwanted terrorists in Iraq, Ahmed Hashim Abed, the mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. Now, three of the SEALs who captured him are facing criminal charges because Abed claims he was hit in the stomach by one of the SEALs.

These terrorists are trained to claim abuse despite no physical evidence of such. More importantly, they know the powerful influence of our mainstream media & legal system and are using these facets as tools against us. This tactic with resulting media attention is effective in causing our heroes to question their training and decisions, placing their missions, lives and our security in jeopardy.

Because this story was under reported, a group of patriots started a Facebook group called Americans United Against the Prosecution of 3 Navy SEALs to show solidarity against what we believe to be an inappropriate and politically correct court martial against these SEAL heroes. No evidence has been released or offered to warrant these charges to date. Over 260,000 supporters from all over the world have joined the forum to voice their concern, support and outrage these heroes are facing.

The Navy SEAL advocates have created a fundraising event in Scottsdale, Arizona, to give awareness, show support and to raise money for these SEALs legal costs. Attending this event will be one of the SEALs, Matthew McCabe, his lawyer Neal Puckett and various political figures from across the country to show their support.

A CALL TO ACTION! You are invited to donate, attend and help spread the word to this seemingly and apparent injustice these SEALs are facing. We need YOUR support! They defend us. Now you have the opportunity to defend them!

Visit www.supporttheseals.org for more information and to RSVP to theevent or to donate to their defense funds.

Mobile Apps: Army Launches Software Application Development Challenge “Apps For The Army”

Ok military guys and gals who are ‘avid readers’ of Feral Jundi, now is your chance. If you want to win a portion of that $30,000 prize, then you would be foolish not to submit Feral Jundi as a mobile app for this contest. lol  Just kidding.  But hey, if this blog counts as news about contractors (which is important to the military), then FJ would be a cool app to have on these new military smart phones they plan on distributing.

Either way, FJ is already set up as a mobile app, complete with a cool little button avatar. Although I refuse to pay for the thing to be submitted to iTunes Store.  At least not yet.

The most important part of this article though, is the idea that some of these apps that the contest produces might be Blackberry/Android/iPhone compatible.  That would be cool, and I can’t wait to see what the contest produces.  I am sure some of the stuff they make will have PMC 2.0 utility as well. –Matt

Army Selects New Camouflage for Afghanistan

The secretary of the Army announced today that the Army will provide combat uniforms in the MultiCam pattern to all soldiers deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, starting this summer.

This decision follows a rigorous four-month evaluation and reflects the Army’s commitment to giving soldiers in Afghanistan the most effective concealment possible.

Soldiers deploying to Afghanistan this summer will receive fire resistant Army combat uniforms in MultiCam, along with associated equipment including body armor, rucksacks, and helmet covers.

The Army’s selection of MultiCam for soldiers in Afghanistan culminates phase III of a four-phase plan to thoroughly and deliberately evaluate camouflage alternatives.
